Hi, im looking to build an extension onto my house. this is essential work as a more space is needed and also a downstairs bathroom is needed. The projected cost is €25,000. I have saving that will cover the cost but I am very apprehensive about draining all my saving to fund this. I am however willing to put up 40-50% of the cost. What would be the best way to fund the remaining amount. Should I speak to my existing lender, credit union etc. Anyone else out there who was in a similar situation. thanks

Try your existing lender in case there is a top up option on your mortgage, will depend on loan to value etc. If not I would be looking at credit union.

Second credit union but shop around for interest rates...had 40k loan good few years and unfort clueless...all wanted to know was how much monthly n total to pay back...got in local credit union...didnt realise I could join another cu...one local to my work would have offered the loan 3k less...
