at the design stage of our kitchen in a new build

My wife is only 1.47m in height

Has anyone got any user friendly ideas that i should be watching out for.

Cooker hob might be a problem I guess - don't know a lot about options there. Lower units/work surface obviously - but I'm sure you've thought of that. Also lower sockets. I'm sure neither of those present much of a problem.
Maybe have a staggered worktop size since lower height of these might be problem for you or other taller people to use?

staggered worktop height!!!

So simple but so effective,

I've just asked my wife if the worktop in the flat we are renting is too heigh and she said "it was a little"

this is something I would never have thought of.

Thank you so much caveat

Are platform shoes back in fashion? :D

That's a helpful and considerate comment.

Light switches would spring to mind, also windows that will allow your OH to open them, as opposed to ones where you can only open the top section.

side opening oven instead of the usual pull down
dishwasher drawers instead of usual pull down

Why not look at the way kitchens are designed for wheelchair users? It might give you some ideas.

Most storage in floor level presses rather than up on shelves or high presses.
Side by side fridge and freezer
Switch for extractor fan on counter rather than on extractor
Retractable step set in to kick-boards
