Termination of Nokia Sync service by Microsoft.

Received e-mail from Microsoft last night about the termination of the Nokia Sync service. They are offering the option of exporting or migrating info for contacts, calendar appointments and notes. Not totally familiar with what they are offering and how it would affect moving info. Anyone able to explain it further in case I get it wrong
