solicitor & re-mortgage

I think my solicitor ripped me off. I went through family law proceedings and then I re-mortgaged. She charged me almost 4,000e just for the re-mortgage alone. I only borrowed 130k.
Should I or can I challenge the cost and if so, how do I go about that.
She has a very intimidating attitude. I didn't even want to give the re-mortgage business to her, but she said I had to as she had dealt with the divorce. She has overall charged me more than my ex's solicitor even though my ex was the applicant and I was the respondent.
I think shes being greedy and she left me very strapped for cash.

Did the solicitor give any indication of how much the work would be? I understand that solicitors are meant to give a schedule of fees and that you need to agree to these fees before any work is undertaken. If the solicitor didn't do this, then I would get in touch with the law society.
