The guys from Allsops said that the individual Irish sellers just don't get the idea of a a fire sale. They all want normal prices whereas the receivers he is dealing with are prepared to radically reduce their prices.
It seems that the auctioneer in Cork didn't really understand this. I hadn't realised that they had raised their reserve prices today. That was a crazy thing to do.

Tend to agree - looking at the details/prices on daft.ie nothing excites; for mass auctions like this one needs excitement ,buzz -something to get bidding moving.
(Mind you, in todays papers it does say 80% of mortgage applications are refused; there is interest, albeit at low prices, but banks are being overly cautious.)
