I was looking at insure.ie and one of the conditions for home insurance is

  • Property is occupied solely by you and your family for residential purposes only.
I assume that that means I cannot use the default application and have to ring them ... or does rent a room not count ?

Most standard domestic/owner occupier home insurance policies will not cover rental situations and, as mentioned above, you will need to contact the broker or underwriter for a quote that applies to such a situation. You may also need to inform your lender if the property is mortgaged.
