3 years ago my sister and I took out a mortgage to buy an investment property. My sister was a FTB, as was I, but I did not put my name down on the title deeds as I was away (in Mozambique..) at the time and I wanted to get my FTB grant at some point in the future. I trust my sister!

Can anyone advise me whether I can get my name on the title deeds without any taxation impact? I owe half of the mortgage. It has not impacted me in anyway as I receive half of the rent. Can we backdate an agreement to get me on the title deeds? Is there an allowance between siblings?
Does it really matter?

YOu and your sister can sign a deed of trust, then property can be transferred in to your joint names without a tax implication. YOur solicitor should be able to advise.
