Any advise please. Have a glass hob with a lot of stains. Sometimes I feel like getting a knife at these stains but I am sure it will mark the glass!...have tried most products. Has anyone any ideas on how to remove these?..thanks

Don't Cif do a glass hob cleaner?

I think "we" () use it and it seems to work OK.

You can buy a special scrapper in Powercity for ceramic hobs, if you use this in conjuction with a specialist ceramic hob cleaner cream (available in supermarkets), this should do the job. Wipe clean and dry with a piece of kitchen towl for the perfect finish! It will be like a mirror!

I just thought: Lidl also have a dedicated glass hob cleaner spray - no idea what it's like.

I've used this thing before, bought in Tesco and worked well

I would use CIF most times but feel the trick is to clean it each time you use it rather than let the dirt burn into the ring.

I use CIF to clean it firstly and then use a hob cleaner as it leaves some kind of film which is supposed to help protect hob.

I use Astonish hob cleaner. it's fantastic. got it in a discount shop but i think Lidl or Aldi sell it also.

it's a putty like substance that you apply with a damp cloth and leave for a few mins, i then use a saucepan scrub (those rough green things, can't think what they're called) and the dirt just lifts off.

i'm sure there's been a discussion about this here before, maybe do a search in Homes & Gardens.

You might find that it is easier to clean the hob when it is still hot (but not too hot!) after being turned off.

I also recommend a scraper and detergent and to save wear and tear on the hob lift all saucepans off and don't slide them across the surface.

Woodbine is 100% correct use
Astonish, it's a clay type substance that
comes in a small tub, not very common.
You apply with a damp cloth, works brilliantly.

"Recommended And Supplied With Aga/Rayburn Cookers"

It may be recommended by AGA, but Astonish is actually very cheap and can often be found in the €2 shops. A tub lasts for ages.

Agreed, I believe it can be found in many discount stores, don't pay over the odds for it.

A friend of mine who has a glass hob (i don't so can't verify) swears by steel wool. She claims that it doesn't scratch the glass and lifts off all marks and stains.

I also have used steel wool for the past few years without any issue - then whatever cleaner you are using for the rest of your surfaces works fine for me.
