Please advise me what are the max dimension I can build at the side of my house without planning permission & if these are internal or external
Also if someone can direct me to a good website on plans etc
Chasie, AFAIK you can only build to the rear of a property without PP and the max is 400 sq/ft, not sure if this is internal or external. Building to the side would require a planning application.
A separate detached building (shed or garage) can be built to the side of a home up to 25m sq in most planning authority areas. It cannot be used a habitable dwelling etc. A single storey extension can be up to 40 m sq but must be part of the home.
In both cases to be an exempt development you must not step forward of the front wall of the property.
You can check on most of the relevant County Council websites under planning for the exact definitions.
