Printer not working

My HP Photosmart C4100 won't switch on. Have it a couple of years. Last time I used it I used it to scan a document. Then, later on in the day, my son tried to print something and it wouldn't. Then I tried to print and nothing happened. The computer didn't tell me that the printer wasn't connected. The on light isn't on and we've checked the fuse and it's ok. Where can I check that power is going from the transformer into the printer because I think that might be the problem. Are they expensive to replace, if that was the problem?

You need a multimeter to check the DC volts on the plug that goes in to the printer, the votage will be marked on the power pack, you should have this voltage + because it is open circuit (no load) when you check it.

If it is under warranty period just replace it or send it for the repair.
