I don’t think this day should pass without some reference to Christine Buckley who died today after a long illness.

She was one of the first people to highlight institutional child abuse when she raised publically the abuse she and others suffered in The Goldenbridge Orphanage and subsequently led to the “Dear Daughter” documentary that blew the lid off the suffering of children in religiously run institutions in previous years.

Because of her, others spoke out who feared that they would be ridiculed. She opened the doors for others.

Rest in Peace

Got a shock when I read about this dear woman's passing. I did not know who I was speaking to at the time, but I was recently in Vincents for an operation and happened to talk to a woman and her son outside the door. It was only when I read in the newspaper of her death, that I realised it was Christine Buckley and her son I had been talking to.
