Does anyone know of a good, reliable Yorkie stud in the Cork area for a 4-year-old? My girl is a nervous, frightened little thing and I'd prefer to mate her with a vibrant, bully-ish dog in the hope of producing a more outgoing pup if this is possible. If the litter is small, ie 2 or less, I'll be keeping them, any more I would gladly let the stud-owner have their pick, selling would be the last option, should that matter to a prospective stud-owner. Pedigree papers are a must.

I cant answer your question Baldyman but do you really need to breed more dogs?
With 10`s of thousands of poor unfortunate dogs having to be killed every year in this country I cant see how anyone can justify enlarging the problem.
Would you not go to your nearest animal shelter and ask them to call you when they have a suitable dog for you?

That's a very valid point Iggy but my dog doesn't take to new dogs. We bought a puppy a few weeks ago as company for her as our oldest dog is on her last legs. She literally ran scared from the new pup and wouldn't take to her at all. Unfortunately the pup was rolled over a few days ago and we think that the safest way to successfully introduce company is to put her in pup.

TBH, I'm with iggy on this one.
However, that doesn't solve your issue either and I think having your dog breed so that she can bond with a newcomer (her own pups) is avoiding the problem....that your dog is a scared, nervous creature.

Go to a animal behavior specialist and get advice and sort your current dogs problems. It may be something silly and small and easily solved and might make life with her much easier on you in the long run.

Also, actually Neutering dogs is well known to calm dogs a lot(as well as the well documented physical so this is another option (and a wise one, given that a local dog could easily cause unwanted pups adding to the problem). Unless you specifically want to breed her I would advise that you neuter her.

By the way, are you sure that your dog could actually the experience of having a litter of pups? This can drive normal dogs a bit loopy, so that needs to be considered also.
