Is the u.s.c. Charged on rent a room income?

Hi,
Not sure if I am posting this in the right forum. Does anyone know if the Universal Service Charge is charged on rent-a-room income? Also does anyone know what the ceiling is for a single person on unemployment benefit for rent supplement in shared accommodation? Due to unforseen circumstances this person will soon be homeless and will be applying for same.

According to the USC FAQ available here http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/usc/universal-social-charge-faqs.pdf Rent a Room relief is exempt
