Mortgage tax relief abolition

Hi there, I know Brendan posted reently that the govt are abolishing tax relief for 1st time buyers at the end of the year. how does this affect self builders. I'm hoping to secure a mortgage later in the year but can't guarantee that I'll have the first draw down complete this year (can't guarantee I'll get the mortgage either, but hopefully!). Will securing the mortgage this year secure the tax relief? Cheers

You qualify when you start been charged interest. The day after drawdown. You will have to have first drawdown and the account running before year end to qualify.
