Hi folks,
My first post here. I'm an Irish citizen living in UK. I'm returning to live in Ireland with my family in July and will be looking to secure a mortgage to build in cloughjordan eco-village. I'm self-employed (3 yrs accounts). I work 3 days per week with a gross income of EUR 30,000. My wife works 4 days (permanent) with gross of EUR35,000. Both of our incomes will continue to be generated in the UK for the forseeable future. We have two kids both of primary school age. We are looking to build a modest 100m2 3 bed house for approx EUR180 - 190k (possibly less). We have EUR20k deposit given as a parental gift. No other debts. We currently pay rent of £800 (stg) p/m and have done for the past 5 years. I guess my question is whether in the current climate we're likely to secure a mortgage. Any advice / comments would be very welcome.
