I was working part time until May of this year when I became unable to work due to illness. At the time I was working 20 hours per week and had been for 5 years. My employer does not pay sick leave,, I was receiving OPFA until I no longer met the criteria. I now have no income.
I am currently pregnant. Assuming I stay out of work, will I be entitled to apply for maternity benefit? As I understand it its based in contributions from the previous tax year? Does the fact that I was only working part time mean I won't qualify? I am still technically employed.
