Some time ago I gave a tenant notice of termination of their lease, as I intend to put the property on the market.
The notice expires shortly.
I spoke to the tenant yesterday and they asked could they stay a few weeks extra.
Now I have no problem with them staying a few weeks extra, it will suit me to collect rent over christmas and new year when the sales market will be dead anyway.
My question is if I allow them to stay an extra undefined period do I loose the right to terminate the lease, if the relationship turned bad would I have to give 4 months notice all over again.
Is there anything I can do like write saying "the notice is extended by 4 weeks" would this protect my position.
