Query on reclaiming VAT.

I had a question about VAT and specifically reclaiming VAT.

I'm Irish and not registered for VAT. Last year I purchased a website. The company selling it (UK based) then paid me back the VAT at the end of the year.

Is this normal? If I pay for other services and am not VAT registered am I entitled to receive this money back at the end of the year?

In a word no. Usual procedure is not too charge VAT when purchaser is vat registered. Responsible person for VAT is the supplier and not you.
