Switching mortgage providers

Hello,

This may be obvious but I can't find any information on this.
My mortgage is with Bank of Ireland and I'm paying a variable rate of about 4.6% - the same product is offered with EBS for 3.99%.
Can I switch my mortgage even if its in neg equity? Bear in mind my neg equity is approx 50K,

Thanks

In theory there is nothing stopping you switching mortgage providers. However, no new provider is going to take on a negative equity mortgage.

If legal costs are not covered, isn't there a danger in switching between 2 variable rate deals - as you have no guarantee that the second bank won't up their rates at some stage?

karker 14;

On K100 Mortgage over 25 years the monthly gross difference in payments is 16 euro.Is changing worth on each k100 borrowed unless EBS can guarantee to stay cheaper than BOI.

BOI seem to be leading the herd on rates but I just see EBS will follow.
Therefore your today (saving) of 16 per k100 borrowed could easily be wiped out.
In any event changing would attract costs .
