Scheduled Airline Failure on Travel Insurance

Am buying annual travel insurance for my family to guard against any possible Ryanair shenanigans in the event of cancellation of a flight. Nightmare stories abound.

How would this be classified in insurance policies? None of them seem to mention "Scheduled Airline Failure", which I guess is the correct term.

I spoke to some brokers who were unclear, and suggested that it might fall between "delayed departure" and "travel delay". Neither category seems particulary credible to me.

Anyone...?

Hi djleahy,

Aon offers a pretty comprehensive policy through ACE Europe see [broken link removed]

Royal & Sun Alliance also have a good product go to [broken link removed].

Both Annual Travel policies cover cancellation, curtailment, rearrangement delay and missed departure.

However, levels of cover do vary so read the benefits closely.

Another source of travel cover is your credit card. Check with your credit company regarding insurance on flight/holiday purchases.
