wood marble or granite

just wondering if anyone has put something other than a wooden window board in the bathroon or kitchen

what are the pros and cons of say using marble of granite instead

I put granite instead of timber window boards in the kitchen over the the granite counter. Really finishes it off I think. Solid timber might be ok but I definitely wouldn't change it now for mdf ones. I have mdf in the bathroms and expext to only get a couple of years out of them before the moisture makes them swell and when that happens I'll probably replace them granite aswell-never thought of it at the time.

in trades . whenever we are tiling a bathroom or a kitchen wall we always use tiles even when there is a board there. it is a high maintenance product around moisture.
