Joining a union...........

I am a manager in a large multinational and have been approached by another manager to see if I was interested in joining a union. While I dismissed it initially I have now come to the conclusion that it might not be a bad idea. So I was wondering if I could get some advice......

• What union would be the most appropriate for a manager in a multinational?
• What typically are the subs?
• Can the subs be paid directly rather than going through payroll?
• Do unions accept people on a random basis (don't think any other managers are unionised at present?)

Not up-to-date on this info but some years ago one could join SIPTU directly and pay your dues yourself rather than going through payroll.

I would say that Impact would be the best union for a managerial grade. You can pay your subscriptions directly yourself.
