Default Spanish language courses

Hi

Anyone know where I can study spanish in the greater Dublin area (or in Kildare, carlow, Kilkenny). I'm not interested in classes that run for 10-20 weeks from sept, as they rearly move beyond beginners/holiday spanish.

thanks.

Hola,

I'd recommend the Cervantes Institute.
If you want to learn more then holiday spanish, they are structured to help you do so.
There are 12 levels (I think) - 4 beginners, 4 improvers and 4 advanced.
By the end of beginners you'll have done all the tenses (except subjunctive) and the common pitfalls - por/para, ser/estar etc.
The first improver level I found to be like a summary of all the previous beginner ones, which was a great help to consolidate what you had learnt.
They also prepare you for exams (cant remember the name, but you get an international accreditation).
If you are not a beginner, they'll have a conversation with you in spanish to see which level would suit you.
They also have a library where you can rent spanish films and books.
All the teachers are native.
The Ilac center has language conversations (different languages different days), which could be a good idea to practise talking in spanish.

Buena suerte!
Ragazza.
( no connection to Cervantes Inst - except as a pupil!).

I think you should Google search for the information. Not all foreign language courses are created equal. Learn the important questions to ask before you begin.

Hi,
I also recommend the Cervantes Institute. I just finished a beginner course there and plan to start the next level. The class was small, about 8 of us and we had a great native teacher Vicentes. The book used is good and the class definitely gives a good grounding to either go on to next level or just use for holidays etc.

Well I found different people in the class had different levels of fluency after the beginner course I did. I had studied french in university so I think it helped me pick up spanish since I was skilled at learning a new language. I guess how fluent you will be depends on your ability to pick up a language but I would think that you will get as fluent as is possible for you after a institutes cervantes course.
