CP 47 Consumer Protection Code
The closing date for submissions is 10 January 2011. We welcome comments from all interested parties. Please make your submissions by e-mail (see details below). When addressing any issue raised in this paper, please use the headings in this paper to identify the section you are referring to. If you are raising an issue that we have not referred to in this paper, please indicate this in your submission. We intend to make submissions available on our website after the deadline for receiving submissions has passed. Because of this, please do not include commercially sensitive material in your submission, unless you consider it essential. If you do include such material, please highlight it clearly so that we may take reasonable steps to avoid publishing that material. This may involve 23 publishing submissions with the sensitive material deleted and indicating the deletions. Despite the approach outlined above, we make no guarantee not to publish any information that you deem confidential. So be aware that, unless you identify any commercially sensitive information, you are making a submission on the basis that you consent to us publishing it in full. Please clearly mark your submission ‘Consumer Protection Code’ and send it to: Consumer Protection Codes Department Central Bank of Ireland PO Box 559 Dame Street Dublin 2 E-mail: code@centralbank.ie |

Hey Brendan,
I assume it is too late for me to make a submission, given the closing date of Jan 10th ? Are there other ways of making submissions? Ciaran |

Hi Ciaran
Not at all. They extended the closing date to the end of the month which is Monday 31st. Even then, I imagine that they will take on board any good suggestions. Brendan |

I got this email just now
Good afternoon, Thank you for your comments to Consultation Paper 47 Review of the Consumer Protection Code. Following detailed analysis and consideration of submissions received, I wish to inform you that the Central Bank of Ireland has decided to undertake a second short consultation in relation to our Review of the Consumer Protection Code. We expect to publish the second consultation paper at the end of June and to allow a four-week consultation period. Yours sincerely Patricia Fitzgerald Consumer Protection Codes Division |

Hi Brendan,
I have not had a chance to make a submission yet but I would still very much like to make a submission. I guess this means that further submissions should be made at the start of June? Ciaran |

Not sure.
I suspect that what has happpened is that they have got some interesting new suggestions which they intend to implement, but want to consult on them as they are new. I don't think that they will be reopening old issues. But I don't know. If you wish to make a submission, you should do so now. If they like the idea, they might include it in the new consultation. Many thanks for your direction on this earlier this year Brendan. I made three submissions and all were taken up.
