Default How many times do I have to close a halifax account??

For several months ,I have tried to close this account only to find that the following month another bill arrives.

The bill is for the x-box live at 6.99.
I have phoned several times,I have emailed several times and finally I got it in writing that the account was now closed.

Guess what,I just received another bill for 6.99..go figure..
Anyone else have this problem.

I could be wrong but I did presume that if I close the account the money can no longer be taken from it (as in the x-box e6.99) ??

I take you have a direct debit set up for the 6.99 for the x-box live and it sounds like this is the only transaction that is recurring on the bill.

Should you not try to cancel this or move it to a new account. Is it a case that you cannot cancel this so are trying to move the card and close the account?

I think Halifax may be obliged to follow through on the direct debit thus why you keep getting the bill.

You need to go to the source. ie cancel x-box.

AFAIK A credit card account is open for seven years after you 'close it'. You been to cancel the xbox account first.

The issue isn't with Halifax, it's with whoever you set up the DD with. If you don't cancel it or move it to another card, then that company will keep charging Halifax the DD and Halifax will keep charging you

Surely a dead card would reject these transactions?

How do xbox know where to send the bill unless you give them a new account number?

Hi, I don't get a bill from X-box, just one showing the payment made on the Halifax bill..

No, it won't. When you set up "direct debits" (actually continuous authority to debit) on credit cards, the card provider is obliged to pass on the incoming transactions. Cancelling the card makes no difference in these cases.
