Oliver Flynn write down of €7 million

I didn't keep my house Brendan, I didn't do well at all. The PIA ended early because I couldn't afford it, I had to pay rent and pay back the PIA so something had to give. I wouldn't say I got a write off at all, the bank had agreed that on getting the keys to the house, my mother (the estate)...

Oliver Flynn write down of €7 million

I had a PIA that was unsustainable as I was paying rent and paying back creditors. My PIA ended prematurely. No, the estate didn't pay any shortfall, the agreement from the start of the PIA was that any shortfall was to be written off. They did try to pursue it but I had to remind them of the...

Oliver Flynn write down of €7 million

I had €7000 arrears on a house after my co-borrower died, I tried to engage with the bank and they wouldn't settle on anything after years of discussion other than taking my house rather than coming to an equitable arrangement. I was 40 when this happened, my mortgage was more than half my...

Key Post Template for complaint to Ombudsman about AIB's failure to apply compound interest

Hi, I'm wondering if, seeing as I've got the final response, could this letter be sent or would AIB entertain it at all now? Is anyone sending the letter to AIB after getting a final response?

Complaints - anyone get a response from AIB yet?

Thanks Brendan I do hope alright that their recent replies have been an own goal for them.

Complaints - anyone get a response from AIB yet?

I was wondering if anyone has had AIB twist their version of things in the replies? I got my final response,in it they said I sold my house, which I hadn't (they did after surrender) I called the number and asked them to correct the info before I went to the Ombudsman and got another letter...

AIB Who has complaints at the Ombudsman stage on the simple vs. compound interest issue?

Stage 2, 21st April I got 'final response'. AIB claimed they had no case to answer more or less. They misrepresented the way things happened so I rang them to say I needed them to go back over their reply. This was to make sure that when I complain to the Ombudsman they don't try to say things...

Complaints - anyone get a response from AIB yet?

Thanks @Jayom75, between you and @tnegun I do feel I'm not wrong in thinking I'm not getting a fair hearing. I'll seek advice and hope for the best.

Complaints - anyone get a response from AIB yet?

Hi tnegun, AIB claim my circumstances, terms and conditions, were similar to the complainant (Karen I presume) and therefore applied the FSPO decision to my account. I got 12% capital write down of the account balance in April 2012, when a fixed rate period ended. This, to me, makes no sense and...

Complaints - anyone get a response from AIB yet?

Got my rejection letter last week. They still say claim Tracker rates would have been too high. They say I sold my house in 2017 when in fact, they got the keys as part of the insolvency arrangement in 2016 and sold it themselves. It's a muddled reply, blaming me entirely for what happened. I...

That's a good idea, at this stage, anything is worth a go.

Complaints - anyone get a response from AIB yet?

It feels like they're preparing us before they tell us they're doing nothing, but I feel maybe it'd be better to wait for that letter before moving on to FSPO?

Complaints - anyone get a response from AIB yet?

I just got this...so AIB are saying we can contact FSPO now or at the end? Seems odd.

AIB Appeals Panel putting all cases on hold to see if they are prevailing rate cases?

Would this mean reviewing the appeals from before or based on complaints sent to AIB? It would be great to get a proper chance this time.

Claiming additional compensation if the bank did not "stop the harm"

Ok, I don't seem to be able to explain myself at all Brendan. I lost my house because I couldn't afford it. If I had been on the tracker rate at the time, I could have. I didn't know at the time that I should have had the option of a tracker because nobody did, they weren't offered to us...we...

Claiming additional compensation if the bank did not "stop the harm"

'There were and are lots of people claiming trackers who have no case. ' I'm not sure what you mean by this, was it not the case that AIB were withholding the tracker from people anyway? AIB asked me to come up with suggestions, not one was taken on board, they were the ones who made the call...

Claiming additional compensation if the bank did not "stop the harm"

And that is the point, neither did AIB! - I understand that, I was just wondering at the time, when an investigation was opened in to mortgages affected within a certain timescale, would it not have been 'easy' for AIB to collate a list of customers and pause any proceedings against them. I...
