    Smart Meters

Dara Lynott from Electricity Association of Ireland was on PrimeTime last night and said that it wasn't the case that you couldn't move from a smart plan to a non smart plan. First I heard of it.

    Smart Meters

Once you switch to a smart plan you can't switch back to non smart plans. Initially smart plans weren't very attractive imo but prices seemed to have improved. When I was with SSE Airtricity they requested meter readings a few days before my bill was issued despite me having a smart meter. One...

Ombudsman has just uploaded another batch of tracker decisions

Equally there were many situations where there was no reference to "standard variable rate" in the mortgage contract yet borrowers were moved on to them after a fixed rate period. Plenty of mortgage contracts with unclear terms such as "variable base rate" or "prevailing variable rate" which...

Killing brambles in hedge, no access to roots

I cut them as low to the ground as possible with a loppers, ideally before they branch out, and then drag them out through the hedge to remove the unsightly look. Weirdly satisfying to pull a spread out briar out through a hedge by a single stem !

I think I am tired of being "Green".

Penalising folks for using their recycling bins from February 1st takes beating in fairness. The only saving grace is these green fanatics will be booted in to political oblivion at the next election. Can't come quickly enough.

ICB Report / Reporting after “Settlement” noted

Even if the owners of the €190k debt chase it up by litigating, and the case is successfully defended by the OP, it would simply mean that the owners of the debt can't legally enforce it. It doesn't mean the debt goes away and the owners can still try and get payment by writing to or ringing the...

I never got a better offer from Bord Gais than the 8% discount referred to above so I'm still with SSE Airtricity whose rates are as follows , for the benefit of anyone thinking of switching to them. I have a Smart meter but am sticking with a 24 hr tariff. 20% discount on standard rates for...

I'd love to know how they select certain customers for the big discounts ! We use about 7000 kwh per year, so heavy users as national average is 4,000 kwh/ year, no arrears and bills paid by DD and yet the best discount they offered me to retain my business was 8%! I've just switched to SSE...
