    Abercrombie & Fitch clothing range

There's a place in the Powerscourt Centre that sells a few A&F items. Well, they did last year anyway. Don't know the name of it, but it's in the centre mall on the ground floor.

pending court case re: accused of driving while talking on a phone

I'm not having a go, but it's this sort of attitude that's to blame for this sort of situation. If more people stood up to this sort of rubbish, then maybe the courts would take notice.

Fixed Mortgage Interest Rate - To Switch or not?

Switched mine from 5.05% fixed last Thurs for free. Call AIB Mortgages on 01 772 6622 to find out how much it'll cost you. AIB rates don't change until COB today, so you may save yourself over €6,000 (or whatever you think it might be) by sorting this today. You'll need to send them a fax...

pending court case re: accused of driving while talking on a phone

Go to court and show this guy up for the idiot he obviously is. Phone records should be enough to prove your innocence if you didn't have any outgoing or incoming calls around that time. Point out the fact that he refused to check your phone effectively forcing his authority on you. Why would...

    M&S Dine for 2 for €12.50

Can't say I felt hungry after it Jock. I thought the amount of food was more than adequate for two people. Some people have an unrealistic expectation when it comes to portion size...we're catching up with America on this I fear.

    Ryanair - driving licence?

Who told you this? Most airlines other than Ryanair allow you to travel to the UK with any acceptable photo ID.

recommendations for a really plush hotel in Dublin city centre for a special one nigh

Re: Top Hotel in Dublin City Centre The Four Seasons (about 2 miles outside city centre) are offering good rates at the moment. The top hotels in the city are the Merrion Hotel on Merrion St and the Shelbourne Hotel on St. Stephen's Green. I think the Gresham is now a 4 star and wouldn't...

Is there room for neogitation in rental prices

It's an open market, so feel free to bid at whatever level you like. People renting properties are generally flexible in terms of price. Let me put it this way...if I was a landlord I'd rather take a 5% cut in price over a year than leave the property vacant for a couple of months. Good luck...

    website to buy runners on-line

If you're buying runners for training in, then unless you know what shoe suits your foot, gait etc, then I'd suggest you go to a shop where you'll get advice on what's best for you. An extra few quid spent on something that's right for your feet could save you a lot of injuries and physio fees...

    Last ECB rate increase

The rate came into effect from July 9th. Different banks pass on rate changes at different times, but usually soon after the rate hike becomes effective.

    Nantucket or Marthas Vineyard?

I'd go to Martha's Vineyard. I worked on one of those ferries for a summer a few years ago (before they were fast). Plenty to see and do on the Vineyard and decent roads for biking.

    Garda presence over the weekend

There were 4 or 5 stopping people for breaking the 50 km/h speed limit on the road from the Port Tunnel to the East Link just at the Point Depot site yesterday afternoon. Dangerous stuff alright.....probably stopping people doing 60 on a wide road with very little traffic around. Resources well...

    Which restaurants do Christmas lunch?

Sounds like you've only yourself to blame for ending up in this situation. You need to stand up for yourself and let your sibling(s) and OH do some of the worrying. Fair enough for elderly parents and children not being able to do much to help, but the others are just making a fool of you. Tell...

Paying off short term loans versus reducing mortgage, why?

That train of thought effectively ignores the opportunity cost of the additional interest payments on the car loan over the 30 years on the mortgage. It's a bit like saying that you'd rather take say €12,000 in 30 years than €10,000 now and justifying it by saying you'll have more money at the...

Cuil - an alternative search engine

Must say I found it slow and it didn't find any relevant results for what I was looking for. Google immediately produced the website. Like most others, I won't be changing anytime soon.

fixed tracker or variable rate which one?

When considering the tracker, remember that the ECB rate was increased to 4.25% with effect from yesterday, so you'd now be paying 5.5% on that deal.

Bidding lower than was orginally agreed!

Face up to the fact that it's a buyers market and take your profit while you can. Can't you do the same on the other side of the transaction (ie: if you're buying)?

Long weekend in Rome - Accom, suggestions??

Note that the Vatican is a bit away from most other tourist attractions in Rome. If you're staying within the old city walls, then public transport really isn't necessary for any of the main sights apart from the Vatican.
