    GP visit cost

Hey OP, Just to confirm what everyone else is saying, that price is ridiculous. I've had full bloods done recently (tested for everything you can think of). Was given the option of having them done in the surgery for €30 or else being given a referral letter to have them taken from free in the...

    GP in Drumcondra area?

A third vote here for Dr. Ekky! Have been going to him for years and I've no complaints at all. His wife runs the female health clinic there and when Dr. Ekky himself isn't around (he also lectures in the Royal College of Surgeons) his brother or cousin stands in for him. Can report that I...

Shared ownership – Clawback & negotiate asking price?

There's no clawback with SO. You buy on the open market so it's priced just as any house on the open market is priced and you negotiate with the estate agent as you always would. It's the mortgage that the council give you not the actual house. (Unless that is you use SO to buy an affordable...

Section 23 Document Probs for AH

In fairness to them they were held up on the document from the builder, I can't remember the exact reason but it was something to do with the qualifying costs. At least your solicitor knew what you were talking about- neither my solicitor nor estate agent who sold me the place knew anything...

Section 23 Document Probs for AH

Hey ericv, I've been through exactly the same thing myself so I know how fustrating it is. I was claiming under Section 372AN/ AQ urban renewal scheme for owner/ occupiers which I assume is what you're trying to do? (It took me an age to find out that this was the tax break and not actually...

What are rules about hanging paintings etc in rented apartment?

I'd just ring the landlord and ask him if it's okay- he might want to just do it himself in case you do a botch job and leave marks on the walls. If he gives you the go ahead well then at least he was warned ;)

    New Zealand in February

When I was in NZ I took the Magic Bus around the whole country for the very reason of ease of booking accommodation at short notice etc. When you're on the bus you tell them which trips and accommodation you want to do that day and they sort it for you (they obviously have a deal with a lot of...

Desperately seeking old book - The Legend of the Caseys

If it's a 1950's book it could just be that Trinity have the book and it hasn't been entered into the online catalogue yet, in which case you have to physically go into the library and look up the Accessions catalogues.

    going to ikea this weekend

Ballymun Regeneration are saying Feb 09. I think that they're going to get around the M50 requirement by saying that once the Ballymun exit is ungraded it'll go ahead. The place is currently built (well on the outside anyway) and they've been advertising for staff already. (sorry just read the...

    solictor- family home declaration

I know exactly how you're feeling- was through it myself! They should do it there and then, it's really simply a matter of them printing it up and then you signing it in front of them. The rip off solicitor guy told me it would take weeks, rubbish. The only piece of information you need is your...

    solictor- family home declaration

I wouldn't recommend the solicitor who I got to do mine as he tried to charge me €300!!!! I can advise that it should only cost €10(the cost of the solicitor's signature) - it's basically just the solicitor witnessing you signing a document to say that you're not married/ engaged to be married...

If you're near to TCD there's a machine in the students union shop that you can use to re- charge your phone, don't need college ID to get in there either.

    Grey or Ivory Grout?

Got cream tiles in my kitchen and the very concientious tiler refused to use the grey grout I'd bought and insisted on me getting ivory. He spaced the tiles really closely together and it looks great. Haven't had any problems with staining yet (fingers crossed!)

    Dads 50th Birthday --Ideas?

My Dad's retirement birthday is this weekend and as a complete suprise we're hiring a vintage car to bring him for a spin before going to the hotel that we're eating in. Had toyed with the idea of a limo but old cars are his thing- might be an idea.

    Living above retail units

No, all of the units- shops and apartments - are under the same management company. We've a building manager (part of management company) who's job it was to put the empty units up for lease so she pretty much got to choose what kind of businesses were going to be offered leases before we bought...

    Living above retail units

I live abouv a row of shops, most of which were empty when I bought the place. What you need to do is keep an eye out to see if planning permission is submitted, as someone else said certain types of businesses require it. Where I live the management company tryed to sneak a chipper into one of...
