Bare Trust for Monthly Child Benefit

How much of the time (days/nights per fortnight) do the children live you v with your (ex) spouse? Who pays - in the main - the children's day to day expenses (groceries, clothes, shoes, childcare, after-school activities, sports gear, presents for parties, etc)?

Anyone want to write a money diary?

I recently completed an Affidavit of Means, due to an impending separation agreement. I've been separated a couple of years, but we still have joint mortgage, a couple of joint accounts, and have to date been assessed jointly for tax. I have found reading this thread very interesting. But...

Advice needed on getting jewellery valued

Dawson Jewellers on Dawson Street have done valuation certificates for insurance purposes for me. They are closed on Mondays. Give them a call. Sorry I can't recall if they have a fee, but I remember enquiring in Weirs once and it was expensive, protracted and complicated.

What are we watching on TV?

A few weeks ago, BBC4 showed two movies on consecutive Saturdays about Jacques Mesrine, who was a career criminal in the 1960s and 1970s in France and Canada. We Sky-plussed them, and watched them over the last two nights. The first was 'Mesrine: Killer Instinct' and the second was...

    Do Irish women dress badly?

Unlike most other posters, I think that young Irish women dress particularly well. Most of my babysitters are better dressed than me. When I was starting out working in my early 20s, I had not a clue how to dress appropriately for work, and now I admire all the young women seem to 'get it.'...

    Things that drive you nuts!!

People who wring out their wet togs on the FLOOR of the communal changing areas at swimming pools, despite the availability of sinks and free wrap-your-wet-togs plastic bags.

Can anyone recommend a good shop in Dublin to buy wetsuits?

If you are buying wetsuits for children, The Great Outdoors have two very useful services. (1) You can try on/fit on (advantage over Lidl/Aldi) to get the right size. We found the Dunnes Stores children's ones were very baggy. (2) If you bring back a used child's wetsuit the next summer...

Key Post Trading up, our story so far

Very interesting reading. We are currently trying to find a house to rent in north county Dublin, as our own is due to be extensively renovated, starting late summer. We want to stay as close to our neighbourhood as possible, as we have children in primary school and pre-school. There are...

    Things that drive you nuts!!

I am told this is known as "prison chic." Speaking of nuts, I absolutely detest t-shirts (worn usually by young men) with very lewd comments on them. There is a shop in the Ilac centre, right by the ground floor lifts, that always has them on display. I try my hardest not to look. Every...

    Recommendation for floor sander

I used EV Kidds in Clontarf - they were recommended to me. If you give them the square footage over the phone, they'll give you a quote.

    Things that drive you nuts!!

I saw a lobster-red man standing outside a chapel in Las Vegas with his new bride. The groom's t-shirt bore the legend "Carroll's Meats". I'd say it looked lovely in the wedding album.

Getting yelled at for having my dog off the leash...

Yes, in light of I would also assume that, no matter how nicely she'd asked, the OP would interpret as he saw fit.
