Electric Car Value Trade In. Please Help

Maybe you're too worked up to see an alternative argument Gordon. I would interpret the point made as a vehicle that works very well as a second car for those fortunate enough to be able to afford a second car. A vehicle that works very well for typical parental taxi runs with children. I can...

Electric Car Value Trade In. Please Help

There are a lot of emotional and some frankly dramatic arguments being made on this thread but this post makes a lot of sense and illustrates where EV would be a good choice.

The link I provided explains that not all require it.

It's not older. Adblue is only required in certain cars. See https://www.whatcar.com/news/what-is-adblue-and-does-your-diesel-car-need-it/n16545

Electric Car Value Trade In. Please Help

I must be lucky then as I've had 3 diesels and never had any of these issues with them (never needed to use Ad blue either) and my current mileage is very impressive for a large car (5.3L/100km). I never had an EV but my BIL had to trade his in as it was stressing him out wondering if the...

Electric Car Value Trade In. Please Help

This is an interesting 30 minutes on why EV trade in values are low. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZysvgm2_Aw There were a few interesting points I took from this. 1. Dealers aren't prepared to take a risk on EV cars due to not knowing the battery degradation. You would have thought it...

Why do people open credit union accounts?

One other feature I like with credit unions relating to their current account is that the phone me whenever I set up a new payee and initiate a transfer, just to ensure it is me who is transferring out the money. A simple old fashioned security check.

Why do people open credit union accounts?

Absolutely agree with all of that. Not only speak to a human but actually speak to a human who is friendly and happy to deal with you.

Simon Harris 6/4 on favourite to be next Tea Shop

I'm sorry to see him go. Like Purple I thought he was a relatively straight talker and called things out that others may have tried to avoid or tone down their language on. Fine Gael appears to be shipping TDs at a rate of noughts.

That's your opinion but I would suspect you are very much in the minority in that view.

    Referendums on 8th of March

You can try and frame my views whatever way your want Itchy but in summary I suppose I just have difficulty squaring that statement with a referendum that says to me "here's another reason why you don't need to get married".

    Referendums on 8th of March

I don't know how you can say that (by the way I never suggested that gay marriage was a dilution of marriage, nor I do think anyone could argue that is the case and I voted for same sex marriage change). Marriage had a certain place in society, a certain value. This referendum appears to me to...

    Referendums on 8th of March

Yes my point was that the definition of family was founded on marriage and this referendum aims to replace that with a vague term that is open to interpretation. What value would marriage now hold in our constitution if this is passed?

    Referendums on 8th of March

One question I have on this. if one of the changes here is to change the definition of family to remove marriage (and replace it with durable relationship), what was the point of the last referendum to allow gay marriage? It sounds like a yes vote dilutes the importance of a marriage or else...

Mid forties couple, with Family looking for guidance

You seem to have a fairly good grasp of your income/expenditure so that's a good start. One of the best pieces of advice I got on here almost 20 years ago now was to create a spreadsheet to track all of this and set some goals. If your intention is to put your children through college then you...

Mid forties couple, with Family looking for guidance

The first question would be, do you know where the €6620 (8k less mortgage repayment) per month is going if you only have "some cash to spare every month"? Until you know where it is going it's hard to provide any advice.

40% of the Irish people speak Irish, hardly niche. But why let the facts get in the way of opinion.

I see what you're trying to do there. ;) As it happens I totally agree with you. That's why I choose to stick to discussing the actual statements made, not what I think they might imply.
