    FIS disallowed

Just an update. I sent in the appeal in February and despite repeated requests from the Ministers office handling my appeal, the FIS department have failed to send my file to the Appeals Office. Does anyone know if this is normal? It's a disgusting system.

    FIS disallowed

Hi wmpdd3, I called them before I appealed and asked to speak to the person who signed the letter. The girl I spoke to was really rude and refused to put me through to her. She said 'You're just going to have to appeal'! I had already asked for a review and they upheld the original decision...

    FIS disallowed

Thanks Michaelm. I sent in the appeal through my local TD's office so hopefully this mess can be resolved once and for all. I received a letter back saying that due to the large volume of appeals, there will be a long wait for an appeals officer to take a look at my file. Doesn't bode well for...

    FIS disallowed

Hi guys, I'm hoping someone will be able to help me figure out what has happened with my application. This is the history (apologies in advance if it is long winded!). My renewal was 1st September so I sent in the relevant documents. At the beginning of December I got a letter saying the...

    Waiting time for OPFP

Hi just to update. I got a call on Friday saying the OPFP has been granted. *huge sigh of relief*. I got the letter today explaining how my means were calculated. I don't think they were calculated correctly. This is how she calculated it: She took my GROSS monthly wage €1057.19 and...

    Waiting time for OPFP

Thanks for the reply Gipimann. I'm working 20hrs per week but was told that because I'm working, I would not qualify for SWA. I have also applied for FIS but as I understand it, that cannot be processed until there is a decision on OPFP. Do you know if this is the case? Thanks again

    Waiting time for OPFP

Hi guys, I applied for OPFP in August and had an interview with the Inspector in November. I was under the impression that a decision shouldn't take too much longer after that. However, I still have not heard anything. I have rang my local office numerous times to be told that they are working...

Lone Parent - Choosing to work Part Time

Hi guys, does anyone know if the figures above are correct? I have been offered the Part Time hours and I can start in August so I would like to know everything before I sign on the dotted line... Also, I was wondering if I could apply for these benefits before I start working part time or...

Lone Parent - Choosing to work Part Time

    Ildánach, would these calculations be correct in working out my contribution to rent: Total income - €467.50 (wages, FIS, OPFP) less disregard (€75.00) Total - €392.50 x 25% = €98.13 €98.13 + €75.00 = €173.13 (total income disregard) €467.50 - €173.13 = €294.37 Less SWA (215.80) = €78.57...

Lone Parent - Choosing to work Part Time

Hi Scotsgirl, I sent my ex 2 solicitors letters which he ignored so the only way to get maintenance from him is to bring him to court. I have absolutely no extra money at the end of the month so there is no way I could afford to do so. I'm going to contact mabs about my debts but thats for...

Lone Parent - Choosing to work Part Time

I know Alaskaonline, I'm extremely lucky to have a full time, permanent job, which I enjoy, but on the other hand, I'm working 40hours a week which means my daughter spends 40hours away from me. I know it is not the States responsibility to pay to raise my child, it is mine (and should be her...

Lone Parent - Choosing to work Part Time

When I told him I was pregnant he said he wanted a DNA test. A delay tactic. I have no problem with a DNA test, I know my daughter is his, but I do have a problem paying for it!! My solicitor said I would have to pay for it, and I MIGHT be refunded, by him, when the results come back. I would...

Lone Parent - Choosing to work Part Time

Thanks for the prompt reply Ildánach. My net earnings at the moment are €427pw - €1850pm x 12/52 - so I'm over the threshold for OPFP at the moment! I know I could apply for FIS with my current income but from what I've been reading, the amount is fixed for a year. If I do get part time hours...
