Health Insurance Claiming benefits from LAYA

Hi Gregmill, Well, if the Regulator wasn't so rudderless, they'd be asking that very question.... I wouldn't be holding my breath though. Given my experience with them, I can't imagine LAYA voluntarily doing the right thing given its culture.

    U.K. pension transfers

I think Marc's approach is much more reasonable. Also, I don't like the the approach "if the insurance company says it's all right, then I'm happy that it's all right" especially when it is known that there is a potential issue. I'd be much more comforted with someone saying....."this is why...

    U.K. pension transfers

So who makes good the client if something goes wrong? Are the techies better informed than Marc who is giving the opposite advice?

    U.K. pension transfers

Hi Steven Who is liable for any retrospective losses to clients if HMRC do come looking? Surely, if the client is going to be on the hook, he must be told? Are you not responsible for the advice you provide? This reminds me of the thread from a few weeks ago aboit PRSA-AVCs where it seems...

    PRSA or AVC

This is a very interesting thread. I must admit that on the face of it, PRSA AVCs should not be used if targeting the Rev Max Lump Sum. Obviously, this is not what the industry is doing, so it would be interesting to get an explanation for this?

Health Insurance Claiming benefits from LAYA

I smelt something wasn't quite right with what I had been told by LAYA - hence why I started this thread. There's something in me that likes getting to the bottom of things (pig-ironess perhaps) but, armed with my newly acquired knowledge thanks to this thread, I decided to ring LAYA this...

Health Insurance Claiming benefits from LAYA

Thanks guys. I'm travelling today so don't have access to my health expenses file but the 2017 date (even with the 12 moratorium) surprises me as I'm almost certain that I did a return in 2019 and went back more than the strict 12 months being mentioned now?

Health Insurance Claiming benefits from LAYA

I've been told by LAYA that I can claim benefits within 12 months of the date of payment. I was surprised by this but to be fair that's what it says on their website also. Why I'm surprised is that I'm almost certain that previously payments in the previous policy year were reimbursable. If I...

    Is PRSI payable on pensions?

Just got on to SCOPE. They confirmed that the €5,000 exemption does apply to ARFs, i.e. it is not correct to say that all payments from ARFs are liable for PRSI

    Backdating pension contributions to 2020

Ok - so to answer my question on #21 If paper based reporting, 31/10; If online reporting, the ROS deadline It's hard to see what use the 4 year rule is for those carrying back to the previous year? If you've already told the Revenue about the carried back contribution (by the above dates)...

PRSI class for former public servant returning to the public service on a contract basis

Say someone was previously a modified PRSI contributor in the public sector and has left service. If he/she returns to work in the public sector, will he/she be subject to Class A in respect of the "new" employment?

    Backdating pension contributions to 2020

Is it just me or is anyone else confused by this thread? What are financial advisers telling their PAYE clients, i.e. where a contribution is made prior to 31/10, what's the deadline for advising Revenue of one's wish to offset against previous tax year?

Recently retired, have a small PRSA, any benefit to switching to an ARF?

Hey Shirazman!! If she withdraws 4% from her residual ARF (i.e. 4% of €15k), what PRSI did you suggest to me that she'd have to pay??!!
