Mortgage paid, pension maxed (I think!) - next steps?

You are not the first person I have seen with enormous salary but relatively low net worth. Has your salary increased lately or where has all the money gone?

Mid 40's: how to maintain/max wealth + retire early

Yeah it’s probably not over spending, I am just somehow irked that with that level of income and ages that there isn’t a 1m+ pension pot, a mortgage free house and plenty of cash. But with some changes that is what is down the line.

Mid 40's: how to maintain/max wealth + retire early

Can you detail out this 500k spend? Did you buy more than one property in the last 6 years? It’s spent now but regardless of the incomes I feel there is over spending.

Mid 40's: how to maintain/max wealth + retire early

With combined income of over 300k per year where has all the money gone over the years? Or has the income gone up recently? You need to look at your spending. You say a net income of 12k per month (doesn’t account for bonus?) and saving 4.5k, spending 7.5k seems high for family of 4 with young...

Raisin now offering 3.03% AER Demand Deposit Account

I am about to open that Morrow account via Raisin, are you saying the rate is really 2.71 because of some T&C's that I didnt read? It is beginning to feel like more hassle than it is worth to proceed.

Key Post Some wealthy people are worrying unnecessarily about their finances.

2m will give you more than that if you are not trying to preserve some or all the capital. You could have 100k a year gross for 20 years if taking it out of cash. From 65 to 85 you could hardly spend it all and who needs a lot if you are even lucky enough to reach 85+

How much 'should' you have in a pension at age 50?

That seems a decent pot/return for what was put in but maybe those with more pension knowledge can comment.

How much 'should' you have in a pension at age 50?

Could you give some more data? How much have you paid in over the 20 years? AMC charges %? Your salary if less than 115k, employer contribution and your contribution? As a case study someone who has been paying into a global equities pension fund while maxing their AVCs in many recent years...

Selling rented house, will mortgage provider check it was rented?

Why could they not retroactively in force a higher rate? That’s my concern. Could they not find out from the RTB and send me a big nasty bill for unpaid interest? I have never read or heard about this happening so that is one positive.

Selling rented house, will mortgage provider check it was rented?

Hi, I will be selling a property that was rented and registered with the RTB. My mortgage T&Cs say if the property was rented the bank could/would charge an investment rate as the property would no longer be my primary residence. I never informed the bank it was rented. Will the bank likely...

Any reasons not to transfer PRSA into Occupational Scheme?

The zurich portal lists a AMC of 0.3% alright, it was previously 0.6% and then 0.5%. I can’t find any info about a full effective charge. Is that something pension providers are supposed to publish?

Any reasons not to transfer PRSA into Occupational Scheme?

I have a PRSA that I started before I joined a company DC pension scheme. The PRSA has a 1% fee and the DC one has a 0.3% one for the same fund, both in Zurich. Are there any reasons I should not move the PRSA in? I think I read I could draw down on the PRSA earlier than the DC and it might be...

Planning for retirement at age 55 and want to maximise finances in advance. Not sure how to optimise

Your variable Mortage rate will likely go up next month with the start of at least 2 and likely many more ECB rate increases. Is your investment mortgage a variable too? What term left? Pay off a large part of the home mortgage as a minimum.

Planning for retirement at age 55 and want to maximise finances in advance. Not sure how to optimise

Did both of your incomes go up significantly in the last few years? With those levels of income you probably should have a bigger net asset position. Your pensions are ok but should be higher given your income. You should really look at your spending. You have net income of about €15k per...

Thinking of selling a rental property? You should probably get a move on...

"The President didn't use this supposed power when the last rent freeze was brought in, even though it wasn't constitutional." There wasn't an actual rent freeze, but there was a restriction on the max % increases allowed. Small point but an important one.

    Tenant "removing" furniture

It’s only one experience but I had a similar issue with the Gardai once. A disgruntled previous owner of land decided to destroy/break down a new fence that was added to outline the boundary of the land that this previous owner had sold. It seemed fairly obvious to me that it was criminal...

    Rich/Poor mindset

Getting value for money is important and it also depends on what you like. I have a nice car (to me) that cost 50k but I also love saving a a few euro when I fill it up using my circle K fuel card. It literally is only a 2 euro or so saving per tank but I would rather it be in my pocket. Yeah I...
