Prime Time programme on the SVR

I have been reading these threads as we are in the group of people on a SVR but with negative equity so essentially can do nothing about it at the moment. Apologies if this is a very very stupid question. If the problem is that it is next to impossible for a bank to take possession of a house...

Married couples on a single income do very badly out of this budget

If it gets to a point where from revenues point of view there are no "married" couples just two individuals living at the same address how does that impact places like the department of social welfare? As a rough example if they means tested child benefit do you end up where a household with...

Married couples on a single income do very badly out of this budget

I'm sure in many cases like ours it was a choice based on the simple fact that currently I can't afford to work. I was made redundant and there just isn't the jobs out there at the level of pay and benefits I was on before. I have no objection to any work and would happily turn my hand to...

    Garth Brooks refund question.

No where is safe from the discussion though I promise this is money related! I will be refunded to my credit card. As I pay this off in full when I use it this means there will be credit on it. Is the cash withdrawal fee charged when the account is in credit?

Changing from separate to joint assessments

We have been married for a number of years but have always had separate treatment as there was no benefit in being jointly assessed. I am due to be out of work soon so this will have to change. I know I have to send in the proof of marriage etc but what happens after that. How do I figure out...

Is there a definition or example of what looking for work is for jsb?

Thanks gipimann. Are they usually reasonable about childcare issues? I am married to a shift worker which is where the main issue is as I can only start after I have the children dropped and therefore are restricted with early starts myself which can be common depending on the role in my skill...

Is there a definition or example of what looking for work is for jsb?

I am due to be made redundant. My job was very suited to our family circumstances and realistically it is unlikely I will find another one that will "fit" as well as that one did. We have a high childcare needs so financially I can't just take any job or it would result in it costing me money...

    SCSB Calculation and Maternity Benefit

You could look at it another way in that you already received a tax exemption on the amount as the top up was taxed more favourably due to the state benefit being tax free at the time.

Struggling with investment property bought before marriage

If you are €380 short and you're saving child benefit for three children which is €390 how are you in the red? The child benefit might be in your name but surely a bank considers it as family income. You could spend the €390 child benefit on the living expenses your husband currently pays via...

Extra payments to an Ebs variable mortgage.

Thanks a million for your reply. We had been making a small overpayment but as it was a fixed rate they were reducing the years as we couldn't just add payments when it suited us. Has it ever affected your direct debit when you transferred the money in directly?

Extra payments to an Ebs variable mortgage.

Hope the title is ok. I have gotten some great advice on here and am hoping to overpay our EBS mortgage now we are no longer in a fixed rate. I spoke to them and while we can just pay extra into the account itself and leave our DD at the original amount he did say the system can identify...

Key Post Tax relief for medical and dental expenses

Hospital grade pumps are expensive to hire so I guess the number using them at six months would be very small.

Key Post Tax relief for medical and dental expenses

Pregnancy and routine maternity care also includes the post natal period so through that maybe? It's confusing alright

Key Post Tax relief for medical and dental expenses

Just checked the revenue wording and its a medical, surgical or nursing appliance used on the advice of a practitioner. That should cover it?

Key Post Tax relief for medical and dental expenses

I was advised by the supplier to keep the receipt for med 1 purposes. I've never had my receipts checked so can't say revenue accept it but the ones you hire are hospital grade ones not the ones you buy in mothercare so are equipment and the Irish premature babies have confirmed with revenue...

Key Post Tax relief for medical and dental expenses

Hope it's ok to add a suggestion. A lot of people don't realise breast pump hire falls into the medical devices category.
