SKY Broadband - Quality & Opinion

I switched to Sky in February and initially took the Sky Talk Freetime package. This gives free local calls during evenings and weekends. However, I have since upgraded to Sky Talk Anytime as the cost of local calls is astronomical outside of the free times. 9.7cent connection fee plus 6.7 cent...

SKY Broadband - Quality & Opinion

My Sky Broadband service was switched from Eircom and activated 2 weeks ago. I got a great deal as I got an early signing bonus. Service is fine and same as it was on Eircom NGB. The router, while simple to setup, didn't connect properly and after logging a call with Sky it was sorted the next...

ESRI are proposing a property charge of €2.50 per €1,000 valuation?

Allowing waivers for those on social welfare just widens the "poverty trap" in preventing some people from taking up employment. Better to either reduce social welfare top-line rates or deduct property tax at source from payments. In the UK, everybody pays even those in receipt of welfare and...

Book a cruise but not US resident?

I booked a Royal Carribean Alaskan cruise last year through the US travel agency below. They were extremely helpful and their price was better value than Irish agents and even Royal Carribean direct internet booking. There were no issues about country of residence while booking. I was invoiced...

Recommendations on where to go on holiday for 25th Wedding Anniversary

For my 50th birthday last July, my wife & I flew to Vancouver, spent 3 days there before boarding a 7 day cruise up the Alaskan coast to Anchorage. Spent a further 4 days touring almost up to the Arctic circle. Breathtaking is how I would describe the entire trip and believe it or not the...

Three times tonight my tv just switched itself off. We have Sky +HD. Cause?

Same thing happened to my Sky+HD box today, switched itself off 3 times during the Cork - Down match. Nothing to do with overheating if it has been happening to other users at the same time in my opinion.

    Income Levy on redundancy payment

It is only on the Taxable portion. If your taxable amount is significant, it is likely you will overpay the income levy as it is applied on a week/month 1 basis. You will be able to reclaim the overpayment at the start of 2011 by applying directly to the revenue commissioners.

Redundancy question on 'payment in lieu of notice'

Ex-Gratia payments are generally arbitrary amounts agreed between the employer and employee(s). Why not ask the employer to increase the ex-gratia payment by the amount of PILON. As the company "reserves the right" to give PILON, it should also be able to not give same.

Disqualification period of JB after receiving lump sum

Can anybody help clear up my confusion please. I received a redundancy payment of more than €90k and a disqualification period of 9 weeks applies to my JB payment. Does this mean I lose 9 weeks entirely or will I get the 9 weeks back payment when my claim is processed. Thanks in advance.
