    Management Fees

Also, have an apartment in a converted house (although there is a shared stairway). Ignoring those expenses associated with the shared hallway … -Building/Block Insurance is expensive since house is 200 + years old (approx 400/500 per apartment). -Annual Returns have to be filed, accountant...

Has anyone stayed in these Edinburgh Hotels?

I stayed in the Scotsman. Best Hotel I've ever stayed in my life. We got upgraded to a suite on the top floor, as the lift wasn't working at the time. The bathroom overlooked the castle & the room also had a turret! Everything in the room was pure luxury, from the antiques, the toiletries, the...

Annual Management Fees - Arrears of Previous Owner

Will the new solicitor's fees be more than the service fee's owed? Was in the same position myself, paid the service fee as it was only a couple of hundred euros rather than chase down the previous owner.

    Pearse street or ringsend

If they are both the same price, I'd prefer the extra 20 meters & being closer to town. It's a mistake to think all houses are better than apartments. Usually, the apartment will have a better layout than the old houses. Most old small houses have a really small living areas, space tends to be...

    Sofa-bed. Anybody purchase one recently?

Bought one in Living in George's street 3 years ago for 300 euros's. Ended up dumping it as it was so uncomfortable & not the nicest to look at it. Replaced it with a bed. I have a few friends who have done the same thing, ditch sofa beds after a couple of years. Unless, space is extremely tight...

What Happens Mortgage Rate if value increases?

Bought a home in 2002 for 420K, now have mortgage outstanding of 315K. Have a tracker mortgage from Ulster Bank, which is 1.05% above the ECB rate (This rate is for mortgage >60% of value). I'm pretty sure the value has increased enough since 2002 so that now have a mortgage of <than 60% of...
