    German train tickets & website

Yes, it is cheaper on their website but only if you choose your train in advance and buy one of the Sparpreis tickets for it. Here is how it breaks down: * While supplies last (and no later than three days before travel), you can buy Sparpreis-Tickets online. You have to pick specific trains...

Key Post Methods to avoid/minimise Credit Card charges with Ryanair and Aer Lingus

It took me two years (!) to jump through all their hoops and get my Neteller account up and running. But now that it is done, everything is working smoothly and I have saved a good few quid when booking Ryanair.

Key Post Methods to avoid/minimise Credit Card charges with Ryanair and Aer Lingus

@cashier: There is no €4/£4 charge. The plastic card is as free as the virtual one. I can also confirm from personal experience that you can lodge your money now. You have a single Neteller account that all your Neteller cards draw from. Once your plastic card arrives, you will be able to use it...

Key Post Methods to avoid/minimise Credit Card charges with Ryanair and Aer Lingus

I keep using my Neteller card for Ryanair bookings all the time. Used it just this week. There are no fees for the kind of transactions I make (money in from my bank account, money out to Ryanair). Other stuff, such as using the card at an ATM, attracts fees. But if you use the card for Ryanair...

    Ryanair credit card charges

Don't forget Neteller and the Dublin City Gift Card. Both provide you with MasterCard Prepaid cards at zero cost.

    Aer Lingus charges on cancellation

If you want refunds with less penalty, book the FlexiFare. However, for that, you have to be perpared to fork out €300 for a flight that would normally cost only €50.

    Milan to Stresa by Train

There is a huge price difference between express trains (Frecciarossa) and regular ones. So before booking an express train, do consider regular ones as well. You can book online and print your tickets or you can book at the train station. If you book online, you can go through the process in...

    Ryanair Hand Luggage Being Weighed

If 15kg is not enough, why not book a 20kg bag?

    Ryanair Hand Luggage Being Weighed

When you put your luggage on the belt at the check-in counter, there are two screens showing its weight, one facing the check-in personnel, the other one on top of the counter for you to see. This second screen has a little calibration sticker in the corner that shows the date when it is next...

Key Post Methods to avoid/minimise Credit Card charges with Ryanair and Aer Lingus

In which case the €150 limitation of the Dublin City Gift Card again is no problem - you can get a separate one for each passenger.

If it says "one seat at this price," I would have thought the website would sell you one seat at the low price and three at a higher one, even if you booked them together. Interesting to hear that by booking for several people together, you can convince the website to give you the lower price...

Yes, the €150 limit is annoying. But when booking for more than one person, what prevents you from making it four individual bookings?

Dundrum, Liffey Valley and other SCs run their own cards. These may well cost money - and, as far as I know, do not work as Mastercard Prepaid on Ryanair's website. So the best thing to do is to stick with Jervis and SSG.

Key Post Methods to avoid/minimise Credit Card charges with Ryanair and Aer Lingus

The Dublin City Gift Card is an offline, entirely prepaid card. You can buy it at Ticketmaster in either the Jervis or Stephen's Green SC. The card is loaded when you buy it and cannot be topped up again. If you need more money on a Mastercard Prepaid, you have to get another one. You can load...

As always, the Dublin City Gift Card should be mentioned. It is a Mastercard Prepaid with €0 fees to charge and use.

@bullworth: I finally have time to reply about the Dublin City Gift Card. Yes, it is the cheapest option as it has €0 setup fee, €0 fee to put money on it and €0 to use it. There are some slight inconveniences but I never found them to be deal breakers: * You have to physically go to the...

Since you seem to be Dublin-based, why not just get the Dublin City Gift Card? Tried and proven. Zero fees.

    Authorising another payee for cheque

Ouch. The cheque says "A/C Payee Only" indeed. Since I no longer have an Irish bank account, is there anything I can do, other than to just throw it away?
