    Directors/Excutive Pension Plan

Is there something similar in the market to an execution only PRSA (which I currently have)? I.e looking for 100pc allocation and lowest fees. I assume no issues with having both? PRSA via work and then executive pension for small limited private income (putting all profit into pension)

CT1 - Return of Directors Emoluments etc

I've always assumed it goes under directors remuneration but I note it doesn't specifically include it. Seems strange to include it under staff costs esp. given the CA 2014.

Good article: Substantial tax reliefs available for employing family members

A son or daughter employed full-time on the farm can earn up to €16,500 per annum or €317 per week free of income tax provided that they do not have any other taxable earnings. He/she will not be liable to PRSI if they are residing at home and the parent is operating as a sole trader. Pretty...

Who is liable if found to be an employee?

If you were found to be an employee of their company so it would be their liability not your company's hence their concern. Whether you would be is down to loads of things and without lots of specific information nobody can accurately advise you.

    B1 -Directors remuneration

Not sure if you're being serious? CA 2014 applies from 01/06/15 (only the 305(b) part along with a few others such as statement of directors’ compliance statement were given exemptions to apply for accounting periods beginning on/after 01/06/15). So 305 (a) applies once signing off under CA2014...

    B1 -Directors remuneration

How does it stand? You're quoting an exemption for share option gains. It's not a typo it's a fundamental difference. The vast majority of small companies who prepare and sign off abridged financial statements after 01/06/15 (under CA 2014) will have to disclose directors emoluments...

    B1 -Directors remuneration

S.305(1)(b) refers to the requirement to include gains on exercise of share options in directors’ remuneration S.305(1)(a) refers to the aggregate amount of emoluments paid to or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services and applies once the Companies Act 2014 applies.

    B1 -Directors remuneration

They are bringing in a micro entity in the Companies Bill 2015 which will remove the requirement to disclose same, so keep an eye for that. Joe_90 is correct though if the accounts are approved after 01/06/15 the Companies Act 2014 applies.

    USC PRSA Exemption Employers Contribution

Trying to get my head around this fully. Currently I pay into a prsa and claim tax relief. Does it make sense to get my employer to pay this amount and also get a usc deduction for it? My net pay is obviously after tax, I'm then contributing in and getting tax relief. Does it make more sense...

Good income now but high levels of mortgage debt

The OP definitely needs some sort of cover for his family should he unexpectedly pass away. At the moment his wife would be left with a pension & properties (limited cash). However she could be left in a very dire mess until she is able to deal with getting hold/liquidating these resources.

New Partner Appointments at Big Firms

You need the staff to do the work though? You can't have €350ph partners doing audits. There has to be enough clients to go around in terms of work to review etc. I know in last downturn a lot of the managers were made redundant so maybe it's the middle level that is cut out with partners more...

New Partner Appointments at Big Firms

Thanks for the input Setanta12, any idea what happened in the last downturn? Did they fire salaried partners or how does that work? Surely they can't just continue to carry them? I'm just curious more than anything as was wondering what would happen all these new partners if things went that...

New Partner Appointments at Big Firms

I see from the latest accountancy Ireland there has been a raft of new partner appointments at KPMG, BDO and a number of the other big accountancy firms. I've always wondered though what happens in a downturn? As a partner you are self employed - do they just return to being directors or are...

One Income Family looking to build savings

Sorry if it was patronising but you've €5.5k savings fund that is diminishing by all accounts. Surely you should have built this up further before having kids if the intention was for you to give up work? Seem very low as a rainy day fund, given size of mortgage. (covers only 2.5 months) You've...
