Have a look at the best buys posts. The Anglo-Irish regular saver is 5.5%. Within AIB the seven day notice on-line account might be an option. The whole thing could be set-up on-line if they've already got the AML docs for you.

    First mortgage payment - calculation?

Exactly what will happen probably depends on who the lender is. I'd ask them when they plan on drawing the first repayment. I'd guess it will be June 21st.

SBP: Investec To Start Offering 2/3 Year Term Deposits

I'd be hopeful they'll keep them up. The DIRT exemption also gives them a significant boost adding to their attractiveness. I can't help imaging lots of people that haven't darkened the door of the post office in years paying it a visit.

    Is Bertie delusional?

Bertie will deserve his fair share of credit for helping achieve relative peace in Northern Ireland. I can't see history being as kind to him on the economy.

    San Fran

The ferry to Sausalito gives a good view of Angel Island and Alcatraz. The Bay Area Model in Sausalito is fascinating. In San Fran the Coit Tower is worth going up for the view. If you take the night tour to Alcatraz dress warmly as it can be really cold if it's foggy.

It only really makes sense to borrow it if you think you'll need the savings for an emergency when you don't have the option to...

    Overpayment vs. Reduced Term

If you go for a revised fixed term to have it paid off in then your repayments will fluctuate up and down with interest rate changes to keep it on course for repayment by the end of the term. If you fix the repayment amount the term will fluctuate shorter or longer as interest rates fluctuate...
