Rememberance Day - November 11 - Northern Ireland

Anybody know if this coming Friday (November 11) (which is from a diary I have Rememberance Day in the U.K.) a bank holiday in Northern Ireland. If so do shops and stores change their opening times? Thanks

free to air channels gone. why?

It has been very windy the past day or two, well in Dublin it has been. The dish my look aligned but it could be out. If pudds solution doesn't work - that could be the reason.

Helping my son with his Junior Cert revision in Mathematics. He has the Pre-Junior Certificate 2009 Mathematics Higher Level Paper 2 and he is stuck with a Trigonometry question. And so am I! My trig-knowledge goes back years - obviously too far back to recall!!! Does anybody know if there are...

LNB arm moves in violent wind

Perhaps, for safety reasons, he had better wait until the winds die down a bit; unless of course you want freedom :D;)

LNB arm moves in violent wind

Sorry - I misread your post. I think that a new dish with arm is needed then. The dish and arm should be able to withstand the winds of the past few days. Stronger winds can be expected in winter!! (And that's not a weather forecast! :D)

Getting corrupt files from a camera

Tesco do a real cheap USB card reader which could get you out of the bind of not being near a machine that has a SD card reaser. €5 or €6 if I remember correctly. In fact I had a look at the Tesco uk site just there and they had a Technika 16 in 1 Memory Card Reader for just £2.50 so keep an eye...

LNB arm moves in violent wind

Apparently (well according to a guy who did an installation for me) the Lidl dishes and LNB arms are suseptible (sp?) to wind movement more than other dishes. On windy days I think if one channel is affected, all should be.

Getting corrupt files from a camera

There is free software available (I'll try to find the source now) that you can run to retrieve some if not all of the data. I'll get something on it and post later. Ijust googled and found this. Don't know how good or bad it is but maybe worth a shot. Use the trial version!

    Spam problem

I think you have done everything you can to halt the amount of Spam in. The only other thing you can really do is change email addresses - something you probably do not want to do. Spam comes from all sources and so it would be difficult to stop the sources.

Regional Broadband & Eircom email settings for Windows mail

On the website have you checked on the Contact Us page? It gives a mobile number for text messages. If she can get the incoming mail there should be nothing incompatible with eircom. Her problem seems to be only outgoing which relies on their sown server. They have probably changed the setting...

    Call phones from Gmail

This definitely works for calls to the U.S. from PCs in Ireland. I tried it at the weekend and not having anybody to call in the U.S. I found the number for a dial-in Weather forecast service in San Francisco. I was so thrilled that it worked that I didn't focus on what the weather forecast...

    Palmerstown or Palmerston, Dublin

I don't know what SatNavs show - I must check. I did hear that was to be a plebesite (sp?) about a year ago whether to go with the "W" or not. I don't know what the outcome was though. All (printed) maps show it with a W. Even google maps!

    Palmerstown or Palmerston, Dublin

Just noticed that the road signage on the N4 in Dublin near, what I knew as Palmerstown, now show signs for Palmerston. In fact it looks as if the signs originally showed as Palmerstown and the 'wn' has been covered over by a 'n'. Has Palmerstown dropped a "W". It must be confusing for SatNav users!
