    DeGiro pros/cons?

I think if one is buying non euro denominated shares the payment still comes out of your euro account. They won't accept payment for GBP or USD share purchases from for example a Currency Fair account one has in either of those currencies. So the benefit of exchanging your Euro's say to...

Want to Invest but worried about Markets

I think most people would be very happy with a 4% return nowadays. So the tax on that is approx 42%. So net 2.4%. Now to get the gross return requires taking a risk. One gets a good return of approx 2.3% net from the 10 year National Solidarity Bond. A long time I know but still pretty...

Thinking of retiring early - what's comfortable to live on ?

I should add that my personal circumstances have changed at work through choice so that too has had an effect on my original savings plans. You could say it's a lifestyle choice that allows me more time away from the office and ties in with my original plans to spend more time away from the...

Thinking of retiring early - what's comfortable to live on ?

By 63 I hope to have savings of €200k and pension pots of minimum €200k each factoring in an annual say 3% return. Education and car costs are having and will have a more detrimental effect on my savings plans than I thought.

Increased costs - Utilise savings v continue with pension contributions

I have a choice to make and hope you can help me with it. My work week is reducing beginning next year from 5 days to 3 days a week. I am 4-6 years from retiring. Currently I am maxed out on pension contributions at 40% tax relief. The 3 day week will mean I will only be entitled to 20% tax...

Tax relief on contributions @ 20% or 40%

Hi, I understand the threshold to get higher tax relief on all pension contributions is € 33,800. So if I earn € 33,799 this year any contributions I make get tax relief of 20%. That's clear enough. Now if I earn say € 33,801 this tax year do I get tax relief on all contributions at 40% ...

ARF & AMRF and working past 60

But can I start taking both amrf from age 61 ?

ARF & AMRF and working past 60

Can one take 4% of the AMRF from age 61? Under old rules could withdraw 100% of the growth in fund from age 61 and the 63,500 could not be touched until age 75. So, under new rules is it from age 61 it works from. Thanks.

ARF & AMRF and working past 60

Thanks. So, I could withdraw more than the 4% each year from the ARF i.e just enough to keep me out of the tax net until I reach the O.A.P age and then reduce it to the 4% minimum if necessary to avoid having to pay tax on it. The minimum amount is 4% compulsory in the ARF and your saying...

ARF & AMRF and working past 60

I think I have this correct: with the new rules from age 61 you have to take minimum 4% from your ARF and you can if you wish take 4% of your AMRF (don't think latter is compulsory). You pay taxes on the withdrawals at standard/top rate depending which your on. So if you remain in work past...
