To fix or not to fix that is the question

Apologies if asked elsewhere in the forum but I'm either blind or it's not there. Is now the time to switch from AIB variable rate to long term fix? Hear a lot of stories of inflation and impending interest rates hikes in media, is it all to be taken with a pinch of salt, inflation definitely...

Hi Brendan, Is there a 12 month window to complain to AIB about this? So anybody who hasn't appealed to them can't now? Thanks

    My AGM speech

Very well done Brendan, your some man. I can't open that audio file but that speech is brilliant, concise, to the point and scathing, just what they needed to here. Not surprised they aren't applying CB full redress program to those affected but I hope that someone with money takes them to...

AIB AIB has accepted the Ombudsman's decision and will be rolling it out to 5,900 impacted customers

FSPO has to make a decision in these cases one way or the other, there should be no middle ground as it leads to further problems and in this case he hasn't done that! Surely it's either black or white! What a failure on Ger Deering and his office!

AIB AIB has accepted the Ombudsman's decision and will be rolling it out to 5,900 impacted customers

This is not a finding on the prevailing rate that should of been applied issue at all really but more a breach of contract payment! How can the FSPO find that a person overpaid on the last 10 years of their mortgage and now go ahead and overpay in the remainder of their term! Doesn't make sense.

AIB AIB has accepted the Ombudsman's decision and will be rolling it out to 5,900 impacted customers

Brendan, why did the FSPO decide that AIB had to pay Karen compensation for not offering her a tracker and then not say that Karen should be put on a tracker, it's a baffling decision to be honest.

AIB AIB has accepted the Ombudsman's decision and will be rolling it out to 5,900 impacted customers

Tell you one thing no wonder AIB didn't appeal this "decision" to the high Court! They couldn't wait to agree to it. Shafted again by the banks and the FSPO.

AIB AIB has accepted the Ombudsman's decision and will be rolling it out to 5,900 impacted customers

Great news and well done Brendan. Can't help feel a little disappointed that the FSPO has failed to put Karen back on a tracker mortgage, I thought the whole point of this argument was that it was in her contract to have the option of this, Mr Deering's office should applied Karen's argument...

    AIB AIB next steps

Surely as FSPO decision is only a preliminary decision he should keep going with his!

AIB "Does the AIB announcement on prevailing rates apply to me?"

Is this at the end of the fixed rate or at drawdown of the mortgage?

Ombudsman says banks should apply individual rulings to cohorts

"He recalled how in one case, the emails between bank officials revealed how they decided to take the chance of letting the case go to his office, based on previous decisions. "What struck me…was that nobody said hold on, these people are entitled to a tracker mortgage," he said."
