    Tralee Hotel

I stayed in Brandon Hotel with wife and two kids at end of August last year. We got a good deal but it was a very disappointing experience. The family room was massive and the staff were great but that's about it. The breakfast was bland and the room was dated. There wasn't much to do in Tralee...

    Staying in hotel with baby

I live in Galway so feel free to ask for tips. We brought a 5 month old baby to Spain and it worked fine. Would you consider a holiday apartment? There are lots in Galway and some beautiful ones overlooking Galway Bay. All of the luxuries of home plus a bit of space but minus the hotel...

    disney on ice tickets

Seriously? That seems weird. Is this the same/similar show that was on in RDS lat year? I brought my kids to it and it was mediocre at best. Hopefully, The Citywest will be a better venue than the RDS.

Am I mad to get an electric grass mower?

I switched from a petrol mower without regret. The main advantages are that it's lighter therefore easier to store and carry plus if the grass surface is dampish, the electric one doesn't dig into the grass like the heavy petrol one did.

    Help! Funeral clothing question

You could buy cheap but smart dark clothes in Dunnes or similar. You don't necessarily have to wear a jacket if you will be wearing a coat. It is winter! Black or grey trousers, dark shoes, white or pale blue shirt, dark understated non-descript tie. Polish your shoes, as stated above.

Blood Donations. Does anyone make money from it.

I have given blood for almost 10 years. In return I receive a packet of Tayto and a glass of 7.Up and also peace of mind that 5 years ago, the life of my newly born son was saved by donated blood. He was 3 months premature and I actually witnessed him change colour as one of the transfusions...

Re opening of train line from Dublin to Navan

The Galway to Limerick line cost over €100million but only 95 people use it per day. The journey is quicker by car since the opining of the M19 motorway. Similarly, the M6 motorway from Galway to Dublin makes the journey by car less than 2 hours - without breaking the speed limit. The train...

    Rent week-on week-off in Dublin?

My mother in law operates a B&B in the Galway. She has taken in a lodger every other week on a room only basis for 2 or 3 nights per week who was doing a night course in Galway. The lodger got a good deal, was able to leave personal stuff in a suit case at the house, and had her own key. It was...

Hotels in Ireland are too expensive... or are they?

I stayed at the Hilton Dublin Airport (it's about 5km from the airport, opposite Clare Hall Tesco!). The rate was €79 for a family room including parking and return transfer to the airport. After that, we kept our hands in our pockets. Wifi was €10, a beer was near €7, a club sambo was €9 etc...
