Implications for current account holders if Ulster Bank closes?

I've been with UB my entire banking life, current account, deposit account, credit card and mortgage. How will tracker rates be dealt with if the loan book is sold? Don't relish the thoughts of having to find a new bank.

    Multitrip Travel Insurance

My VHI multitrip is for renewal too,,,,,,, I'm optimistic I'll get to travel a some stage in the next 12 months ! Given I booked a holiday in January 2020 for July 2020, how I wonder does that work? Booking made before the date of 18th March and whilst my policy was still valid

Topping up ulster bank mortgage to wipe out cu loan.

I did an extension about 5 years ago, needed €30k loan on top of savings to complete the work. UB where we've a LTV of less than 25% mortgage were a pain to go to, only would release money when invoices submitted etc..... took the loan from the CU at a higher cost but with nothing to submit only...

    Health Insurance Back to VHI?

We are a family of 4 - 2 adults 2 children (ages 10 & 8) We were with the VHI for years and two years ago moved over to LAYA (Flex 500 explore) Luckily have had very little use for any in-patient cover and we generally don't have much GP expenses either (maybe 4/5 visits per year) so day-to-day...

    Health Insurance Health Insurance 2ad&2ch

Many thanks for the advice Snowy, you've given me excellent advice before in relation to health insurance. Time to leave the vhi which I've been with forever and get better value elsewhere. The savings on the adult policy would cover any excess should we have a hospital stay

    Health Insurance Health Insurance 2ad&2ch

We've been with VHI for 15+ years and are currently on One Plan renewal cost €2355. Apart from two maternity claims and a minor procedure for one child a few years back we luckily never need to avail of our health insurance. I'm looking at Laya flex 500 explore which has a greater excess €500...

    Architect in Limerick - recommendations

We are planning an extension to a 3 bed semi - conversion of garage and extension to rear. We've engaged an architect (Absolute House Plans - anyone used them before?) and all inital meetings etc went well. Plans drawn up and planning applied for. Finding it difficult to get the company to show...

VHI Cover - Couple early 70s

Many thanks for all the information SnowyB there's definitely savings that can be made. I have checked both plans that you suggested with VHI and both are good options. The Laya policy is very good but I don't think they'll change provider after being in the VHI for as long as I can remember...

VHI Cover - Couple early 70s

That's their main concern that in the event of a serious illness they're only 80% covered. 20% shortfall could be quite a lot! Renewal date is 8th of May so we've a few weeks to research. The other 2 VHI plans I looked at would save them up to €600 each.

VHI Cover - Couple early 70s

Having got fantastic advice here before was hoping someone would have some thoughts on the following. My parents are with the VHI (both early 70s relatively good health - father prostate cancer about 5 years ago) and are on the same plan for years - HealthPlus Extra (the old Plan B Options)...

    VHI Renewal

Thanks for the reply. It's Teachers Plan not Teachers Plan Select. My husband was treated as a public patient in Beaumont for his condition as it all happened in an emergency situation and at the time he was in high dependency room for a week so we never even used our VHI cover. He attends...

    VHI Renewal

I have been with the VHI since forever and this year my renewal has gone up considerably. I have a Teachers Plan which is basically a hospital plan with no day to day expenses covered. Each adult renewal is €1039 and child is €273 so renewal for year is €2624 from about €2000 last year. Kids...

obligatory written notice to end membership of gym-otherwise keep paying.

I had this issue a few year back. I was a member for the 12 month period and then emailed the manager to cancel my membership. They claimed not to have received the email and that I had to pay another months membership as they had to have 30 days notice in writing. I immediately cancelled my...

How schools are letting our young children down

Yes I was trained in college to teach RE at Primary level. I'm not religious...I just teach it. When interviewed I was asked was I happy to teach the RE programme which was a requirement to employment in my school. On a personal level I hope sacramental preparation moves outside of the...

How schools are letting our young children down

DES has suggested minimum weekly framework for primary schools. RE typically does get 2 1/2 hours per week whilst SESE (Science, History and Geography) gets 3 hours. As a teacher I have never spent that much time on RE.... also with the new guidelines on increasing the amount of time spent on...
