Motor Car Insurance - open insurance

The car still has tax on it and NCT not due for a few months. Sorry, I don't really use this forum so I don't know how often this has been covered. It seems like a bit of a loophole that the car can be driven even though it is not insured.

Motor Car Insurance - open insurance

Can a person with open insurance drive a car that is uninsured? For example, take a married couple who each have one car and the wife lets her insurance lapse as she uses her husbands car (and is named on insurance). Can the husband (who has open insurance) drive the car that is no longer...

Interview question - what are your weaknesses?

Thanks very much for responses - will possibly say something along the lines of what Rustbucket has suggested as it is true. Think it's such an old fashioned question but apparently it does come up lot in teacher interviews.

Interview question - what are your weaknesses?

I have a teaching interview next week and I'm thinking about how to answer this question. I've heard people say that you should just say that you work too hard or are a perfectionist but that seems so false to me. Any suggestions for ways to answer this question??

Wedding cakes - how much did yours cost

We recently paid €300 for a "cake" made from cheese and grapes - it looked amazing and was divine. Worked really well for afters. Venue provided it themselves so no transport costs.

Chevron Training - online Special Needs Assistant course

Hi I'm a qualified secondary school teacher (currently not working) and am thinking of doing this course online. Has anyone done it? Or can anyone give me feedback about ChevronTraining or possible alternatives who provide similar training? Thanks

We are thinking of going on a short holiday in early June and are considering hiring a boat in France for a few days. Has anyone done this? And do you have any tips?! Thanks.

    Recommendations for short honeymoon break

Has anyone been to Venice in early June? I've heard it can be a bit smelly in warm weather.

    Recommendations for short honeymoon break

I'm getting married in June. We have a one year old who we are leaving for a few days so it will be a short break. We're thinking of about three nights. Budget is limited, don't think we could afford more than a thousand. Any ideas?

VHI: Poor customer service - trying to include my partner who had Garda MedicalAid.

[CENTER] Giving it up because we can't afford it. Why should it be a "torturous routine"? I shouldn't have to engage in negotiation. Either they cover it or they don't. In this case she said they did not cover it but within less than ten minutes had said that they can cover it. I know...

VHI: Poor customer service - trying to include my partner who had Garda MedicalAid.

I recently upgraded my health insurance policy to include my partner who had Garda MedicalAid. At the start of the phone conversation lady in VHI said that he would not be covered for first 26 weeks as this was the lead in time. I argued that MedicalAid was a private insurer and so this...

    Basic insurance for young family?

Hi I have a basic policy with VHI which costs about €52 per month. My partner has Garda Medical aid which is costing him around €36 per month. We recently had a baby and she is covered on my policy but renewal is due shortly. Even though I had insurance I decided to go public for pregnancy and...

Date of Presidential Election - why not next week

Why couldn't the election be held on a Friday? I know a few people who can't vote because they are working away from home. And also, kids could have finished today instead of having a day off and then back in again for one day before the week off.

I did notice that most of the Travellers who were interviewed had strong irish accents.

Dale Farm - eviction of Travellers

I've watched some of the coverage on Sky news today and I find this whole saga so annoying. The Travellers have been joined by a large group of activists for "human rights" - a number of these activists have been interviewed and they are saying that the Travellers have "rights" and that they...

    Security cameras in classroom

Very strange that the parents were not informed. When I did my HDip we had to video a class being taught - for this I had to arrange for a letter to be given to the parent of every student to ensure that no parent had an issue with it. Capturing images of students is taken very seriously...

    Why So Many Charity Shops?

My sister in law volunteered with SVDP a few years ago at Christmas. She was driving around delivering hampers to families just before Christmas. She said a lot of the houses had much bigger tvs than she did and things like x-boxes,etc. Not so much poor, as poor choices.
