Gas boiler with backboiler possible with open vented system?

Sorry for delay in replying. Our boiler is a ferroli sigma boiler, I know nothing about it but we had to order it and wait for it as it is designed to work with the open fire back boiler system and it was more expensive than usual. Cost about 1500 Euros in 2006. Both systems have worked together...

Gas boiler with backboiler possible with open vented system?

We have gas fired central heating and a back boiler from an open fire in the sitting room. We had to get a special boiler and it was a bit more expensive, we can run the two systems together with no problem but we got the systems in at the time of the build.

    "Friends" who do odd things

Friends who think you're marvellous when they have a sick child etc and they look for free advise and think nothing of calling you at inconvenient times but never think to invite you out with their real friends. Am waiting for the opportunity to say sorry, but think you should take child to...

How to handle serious negative equity?

My opinion is that hard cases will make soft laws and while of course there are people out there with very average houses who have lost their jobs and are in trouble, there are also many who would think nothing of declaring themselves bankrupt or whatever to avoid the inevitable pain of having...

Other Public Liability Insurance for Residents Association

In certain counties, the council doesn't cut grass in any private estates regardless of whether or not the estates have been taken in charge. I live in one such county and have lived in this area for over 20 years in different private estates. The council NEVER cuts the grass so the alternative...

Other Public Liability Insurance for Residents Association

Insurance is needed because in the event of any activity organised by the residents' association eg. clean up day resulting in an accident to anyone involved, the association and thus its members could be found liable if negligence is proved. It is also unwise to employ anyone for grass cutting...

    Food in cinemas

I'm delighted to see this post. As a smoker I'm not allowed to smoke and I know all you non smokers will laugh at this but I actually felt sick the last time I was at the cinema. The smell of food is awful and the sight of some of the eaters of the food was enough to make me anorexic. Talk about...

Parents being sued for accident during birthday party

In order to tackle what is basically dishonesty and theft which reduces the amount payable to genuine claimants and gives everyone involved a bad name,we have to act. Talk is cheap but people who commit fraud are guilty of crime. Here's what you do. The link should take you to the site of the...

Why do people expect to be let off Negative Equity? You made a promise, stick to it!

Re: Why promised to pay it back, why not stick to your word? Agree totally and if you and your mates with your super macho behaviour in the property world , the banking world, and the stock exchange have caused the world's economies to collapse, at least have some cojones now and take the hit...

    An Post Savings Bond

Safety of the savings is the most important and a deposit type account with low risk and resultant low return is probably most suitable, maybe some long term savings and the amount is about 20.000 Euros..

    Mandatory In-patient Charge

I think you should ring the accounts dept of the hospital and explain the situation. You said that your own doctor organised this; presumably you got a letter from him. As this is a free vaccine, I think it is unlikely that you will be charged and that it is an admin error.

Public Sector Wages; what should they be benchmarked against?

I have been following a lot of the debates on the public sector stuff with interest and sometimes annoyance. Some of the opinions on both sides are so ridiculous that I couldn't be bothered replying to them;to be honest my life is too short. However, I have come to one conclusion. There is a...

Flooding - building on flood plains

A successful class action by a group of residents, who have bought housing in an area that was unsuitable, against the relevant council who gave planning permission would sort out a lot of the carry on re planning in this country. I think ordinary citizens have enough to do when buying their...
