Things that used to be illegal in Ireland

Seatbelts, 1979 I think and rear seatbelts were later. Marital rape only became a crime in 1990.

Electric Cars - a ridiculous product

Because the recharging is for long journeys (300k plus) that would have a stop planned anyway. As someone said earlier, the range is now determined by the bladder, not the car. There's no requirement to buy coffee. Some people buy chocolate when paying for diesel.

Electric Cars - a ridiculous product

Maybe iPhone vs Nokia is a better analogy. Remember the Nokia that would last forever on a single charge, no need to look for a phone charger when out and about., ompared to the silly iPhone that needed to be charged daily and cost a ridiculous amount. iPhone was fine if there were no power cuts...

Electric Cars - a ridiculous product

Same with petrol and diesel, fuel pumps need electricity. So if a car (EV or ICE) is low on stored fuel and there's a power cut, you're stuck.

Electric Cars - a ridiculous product

EV, if it's charged, no issue with a power cut. Petrol / Diesel, if there's fuel in the tank, no issue. Fuel pumps at service stations use electricity. So a prolonged power outage, everybody is walking.

Electric Cars - a ridiculous product

I've had an EV for 5 years, first one held for 4 years, one year into second one. I haven't used a public charger in the last 3 years, that was on a trip to Belfast. Didn't take much planning, a stop was planned anyway as the drive was more than 3 hrs. Most owners will charge at home, read...

Return to office - but I want to remain fully remote

They were working crazy hours. They're out of it now and are just a regular employee. Much happier, WFH also.

Return to office - but I want to remain fully remote

That may have been the case. Not sure if a solicitor was involved at the early stages. Business was a one person operation, no HR etc so probably clueless about it until it got serious.

Return to office - but I want to remain fully remote

I don't know the full details of the case. Business premises need to close for a few months so there was no work. Employee asked to be let go so they could claim Unemployment Benefit. Owner agreed to let them go. I think they began to dispute whether they were let go or if it was redundancy...

Return to office - but I want to remain fully remote

I think it's media bias. Only the interesting and bizarre, extreme cases are reported. I know of one case of a relative who is a small business owner. Dispute with employee and employee was awarded 10k. Covered in a few newspapers, Sunday World etc. Case was appealed and overturned, no award...

    Neutrality

Cremeegg's approach is why generations of Creme Eggs have avoided the slaughter and massacre every Easter. Living under a dictator, they could just simply decide to draft you, expel you etc.

Those with deposits in Raisin, Lightyear - anything to report, issues, all good, etc?

There is a Term Deposit ID for the account with Younited or whichever bank you choose, this is supplied when you open the account. IBANs are used to make international transfers easier. There'll only ever be two transactions on the account, one deposit and one withdrawal at the end of the term...

Ryanair changed my flight times and they don't suit me

I feel these are the consequences of cheap flights. We can't have it both ways. When booking flights, the cheapest is the most restrictive. There are options of Flexi tickets that allow you to change and re-schedule, but you pay much more for these.

Pronouns - can an employer insist that you use them, in an auto-signature?

Working in a company with sites around the world you can't really rely on names to indicate gender. I've always just used 'they' to avoid the issue. I don't really find the pronouns in the signature useful. If I'm replying directly to the person, I wouldn't use third person pronouns.
