Sealing rubble wall on old house

We have a holiday home in Wexford which is open to the elements (few fields from the Irish sea). It is built from stone and I would assume lime plastered. Remote (SIM) control of central heating

I got a Texton unit at the start of this year. Works great for me, they have their own app which sends text messages to it or you can just send the text message yourself direct, I think you can use it for most functions. We have it installed in a holiday home and find it excellent. Great to...

House being sold directly by owners - but way overpriced

Sometimes sellers use the figure that is still owing on their mortgage as the selling price even though it has no real relevance. It is only relevant if they cannot afford the short fall if they are in negative equity

    Handling tricky car dealer

I had a similar leak in a Rover 75 years ago. It was a blocked drain in the bulk head. The water used to run in round my feet on both passenger and driver side. It was a five minute fix when I found it. Did no harm to the car.

Bidding war in a private sale - advice please...

Another issue you may need to consider is getting the house valued. If the house is valued by the bank at only 200K you will have issues in getting a mortgage if you are paying 230K. Valuers are being very conservative at present.

    VRT on vehicle

I think Sadee point is that as the bike has been here 2 years the VRT and should have been paid then. Therefore they could look at the year of the bike as being 2 years younger. ie the age it was 2 years ago. In practice this is not enforced. If you have a receipt for the purchase of the bike...

    UK car import guide: Comprehensive

You will have to speak to the revenue guy who lifted the car. They can some times be reasonable if it is genuine. I had a car impounded one time and had to pay the penalty and the VRT to have the car released to me. The can do a deal on the fine I think you may need to engage a solicitor...
