    St Canices Credit Union Kilkenny

Unfortunately I don't know how to highlight articles but there is an interesting report in the Kilkenny People regarding their local Credit Union which saw a sharp fall in loans to members and a mention of the role of local moneylenders. The Union is proposing a dividend of 1.5%.

    VHI VHI HealthPlus Access

We are both a retired couple and just received renewal papers for above plan at cost of 3639 euro for 2015 compared with 3410 for 2014. We are one of the many oldies who wish to stay with VHI and are wondering if any other of their plans would be cheaper with much the same cover. Incidentally...

Why has it taken so long for people to realise that rising house prices will have implications for the property tax liability in 2016 or whatever date the tax is to be reviewed

Statutory declaration of single person that property is not a family home”

I have no legal experience but I suspect that the declaration is required to ensure that the consents required under the Family Home Protection act and similar legislation is not required.

day time running lights not good enough

Dimmed lights from now on in view of all the assurances. From my own experience I feel they are equally as important when the sun is shining as when the light is fading.

Karl Deeter doesn't seem to like AIB's rate cut!

In regard to defective mortgage documentation I doubt if it were the actual mortgage document as most banks used standard forms. Most likely the document was not properly executed especially family home requirements or in some cases dare I say was not executed at all.

Karl Deeter doesn't seem to like AIB's rate cut!

    AIB loan 21Billion ffom taxpayer

Irish Examiner has headline "AIB gets a "free pass" on 21Billion it owes us" and goes on to say AIB has no legal requirement to repay. While this may be factually correct I think the headline could give the wrong impression?

    Flight Attendant with Ryanair

Thanks for all the replies. It was stupid of me to highlight the requirement to be able to swim. I just did not want to think of such a situation.

What happens to Joint Accounts on the death of one of the account holders?

Have you tried ringing the local AIB/Bank of Ireland and asking them would they arrange for an official to call on you? As I said ideally if you knew someone with a financial background they may be able to help. They don't have to know your personal details of the sums involved but should be...

What happens to Joint Accounts on the death of one of the account holders?

I am sorry to hear about the death of your wife and I appreciate this is a sad and difficult time for you. If your accounts are in the local Branch have you called in and asked to speak to someone to deal with your situation. Even if your account is elsewhere they should be able to help...

Many thanks So-Crates for all that information. I note one of the requirements is "able to swim". A rather odd requirement for an airline!

    Womans kidnap ordeal in Longford

Local Gardaí are due congratulations for their very quick response in rescuing this lady. Gardaí are often criticised but this terrible incident shows how effective they can be.

AIB, EBS cut variable interest rates

Am I correct in saying that as for AIB is concerned the Standard Variable Rate no longer applies to new Mortgages and the Variable Rates are LTV in the 3 categories mentioned in their press release. The SVR has "discontinued" in brackets.
